Izzah, a secondary three student of Bendemeer Secondary School, has been living here with her family for the last 11 years. She was from Bendemeer Primary School and had fond memories of playing at the playground at block 8 near her home when she was very young. The eldest of three children, she is typical of many teenagers in the neighbourhood as she would occasionally hangout after school with her schoolmates near the basketball court at block 4 and loves getting a snack at Superstar or Choice @ 3. Sometimes, they would even spend time together in City Square Mall or NEX in Serangoon. She generally finds the people here friendly but she had her fair share of encounters with nasty people too. When we asked Izzah what she does not like about living here, she thought for a while before saying, “I feel scared as I have seen some stray dogs in the area!”
