About Us

We are from the pioneer batch of primary six students in ZigZag Learning. This project was initiated in end September 2012 after our PSLE as we enjoyed learning together but wanted a break from the academic stuff. When Uncle Christian said to us “It’s time to lift your heads from your books and discover the place you live in and connect with the people in your community,” we all had the same thought “Why not?” And so the learning journey began…

We decided on the St Georges community as it is smaller and more manageable considering we have only a couple of months to complete the project. It is also where ZigZag is located and where most of us live. We wanted to capture what we learnt about our physical and social environment in a blog as it may be a resource to others, particularly fellow St Georgians.

I used to be shy in front of 'strangers'. When I heard I had to interview people in this project, it really freaked me out. But in the end, it turned out to be a great experience for me. I gained a lot of self confidence when I talked to the people. I am happy that I had this opportunity.

I love listening to music and joke with my friends.

I have done many projects in school but none was like this one. I learned that keeping to timeline and commitment is very, very important. Each team member had a part to play. If one failed in his/her commitment, others got to cover for them.

I like to do stop motions and love to read!

St. George's is my grandma's home. Through this project, I found out a lot of history and information about the community. I didn't know it was and still is a very interesting place. I have lots of fun with my team mates. They even celebrated my birthday! I learned to be a team player.

I am perfect in my imperfections, I will grow strong in my weakness and find happiness in my sadness.

didn’t know I was so ‘famous’ in St. George’s. I grew up here. When I went around with the team in the community, it seems that everyone knows whose daughter or granddaughter I am. I was quite uncomfortable at first, but later I learned to appreciate the connections my grandmother has here.
My first interview was disastrous! I stayed dumb the whole time and only asked one question. When I went home, I asked myself why I was so scared, as it is only an interview. I learned to step out from my comfort zone, taking baby steps and am doing much better now.
I am the cool and steady girl-next-door. Haha..

Though I stay in St. George's, I realised I didn't know the community and all its facilities till I was involved in this project. Gosh.. I was wearing blinkers all this while! Now, whenever I go anywhere, I really 'open' my eyes and observe.
I love soccer and support Manchester United!

There is sure a lot to do in this project. I learned that team spirit and positive energy is important in getting everyone to be enthusiastic about things. I might not be perfect, but if I keep my positive energy and an open mind, I can actually pick up many skills in my new experiences.

I am a wave-board enthusiast and a fan of KFC!
