Mrs Ong has stayed here for about 12 years and has a son in secondary school and two other children attending Hong Wen Primary School. She is more comfortable conversing with us in Mandarin but she had to resort to English when our conversational Mandarin failed us when we needed it most. Over the years, she noticed the place is getting more crowded and is not as serene as when she first moved here. “I would like to see more eating places as the choice of food is rather limited here,” answered Mrs Ong when we asked what she hopes to see more of here. She shared with us an interesting story about an old haunted house in St George’s near the highway where block 5 is now. But she quickly pointed out that she does not really believe it as she heard it from others.
