The basketball team



One of the most used community facility in St George’s is the basketball court at Block 4. You are likely to see some school children throwing hoops throughout the day, but by evening, you can see teams of eager players pitting their skills against each other. Theresa and her team started playing here 5 years ago as it is near most of her team mates’ home. They met as individuals in the court but soon became a team as they have similar interest and could ‘clique’. She finds the people living in the nearby blocks very understanding as it can get noisy sometimes in the heat of a game. Theresa wished the court has a shelter so that they can play come rain or shine. Though she does not stay in St George’s, this place- particularly the basketball court, will always be of special significance for her. “I met my ‘love’ here on the court,” she confided.
